Art & S.T.E.A.M.
Here at Le Petit Jardin, art is incorporated in our curriculum on a daily basis as well as an Art Atelier time scheduled during the week. Our teachers enjoy how art enhances their lessons and encourages a deeper understanding of content and language. Process is also valued at Le Petit Jardin and we delight in providing our students opportunities to express themselves and take risks in innovation throughout their day. Additionally, children are provided the opportunity for fine motor development in activities such as cutting, hole-punching, painting, holding a crayon/pencil or stringing beds. Paints, paper, clay, glue, and of course glitter, we don’t hesitate to make a real mess!
Art Atelier
Art Studio is a weekly class where our students are provided time to explore their imagination, deepen their creativity and cultivate their curiosity. In a nurturing environment the art program offers age appropriate introduction into the fine arts. Through the school year various artists and styles will be highlighted for appreciation. Children learn important life skills such as problem solving, creative thinking, actualizing ideas, and developing self-confidence. Through a variety of mediums and materials children explore such art techniques as drawing, sculpture, printmaking, collage, ceramics, painting, and mixed media.

Our on-campus S.T.E.A.M. program is a weekly activity. In the beginning of the year children are encouraged to work with blocks, play games and explore different materials and textures. The focus of this time in the beginning of the year is to work to build, explore, create and strengthen our little hands. In the later parts of the year we build off of the early months of exploration and create larger construction projects, more complex games and work more deliberately as a team.
Some of the materials we use during are S.T.E.A.M. program are: Blocks, Tape, Paper, Playdoh, Magnets, Tinker toys, Legos, Train track, Suction toys.
